Much of our booth display will be devoted to Mid-Century, Cuban abstract paintings and prints. By the start of the 1950s, a gravitation toward geometric abstraction aligned an emerging generation of Cuban artists with the Trans-Atlantic avant-garde, who had either developed or supported the minimalistic Bauhaus concept of design. Such abstraction served as a symbol for Cuba’s modernization prior to Castro’s arrival. This little-known chapter, concerning post-war abstraction, featured the work of an artist group who came to be known as “The Ten Concrete Painters.” Our booth will feature pieces created by four of them: Salvador Corratgé, Sandú Darié, José MIjares, and Loló Soldevilla.
We will also feature, Santa Fe artist, Jesse Wood’s uniquely contemporary landscape and object paintings as well as prints by Robert Bechtle and Robert Cottingham. Sticking with the theme of Objects of Art, Palette will show two Hagenauer early 1900s bronze car sculptures, Mid-Century watches and art glass sculpture from the Czech Republic.
We are looking forward to exhibiting at this fine show and hope that you’ll join us!
